Sounds

I found it really cool how people recording on a set of a movie have to maneuver certain things to get the right sound. I didn't realize how much effort went into the process. I took a media class in high school and never thought about the sound quality of my videos. The book talked about how to get the right sound when two people are having a conversation. The recorders maneuver things around to make the sound bounce off or not bounce off. If you are recording in a "bathroom" you need to have an echo to make it seem realistic. If you do not set up properly before recording, the recorded sound will sound odd in certain environments.

Symmetry

I found this video really helpful and interesting. I've always known that a person's attractiveness can depend on their facial symmetry. I never knew the background information regarding the symmetry of a person's face. For example, a higher symmetrical face means that person has better genes, better health, and is more fertile. In my opinion, I feel like highly symmetrical faces have a robot look to them and it doesn't seem natural to me. I think some of these celebrities look better with their natural faces, but I can see the differences with the symmetrical faces. The symmetrical faces look more harsh to me, while the natural faces had a warmth to them. I think it would not be attractive for a person to have a completely symmetrical face.

Echolocation

In the book "See What I'm Saying" they discuss echolocation and how blind individuals use it to navigate. I found this truly amazing. Daniel Kish can be seen in this video riding a bike while making clicking sounds. The clicking sounds "bounce" off of near objects and Daniel can judge how close that object is by the reflected sound. He can also determine what kind of texture things are based off the sound waves he receives back. I've heard of echolocation before. I know that dolphins and bats use it but I never knew people could master it as well. I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it for myself. I feel like it would be very difficult for a sighted person to master echolocation. Daniel has no other choice and his sense of hearing is probably great.
